Visit to Carding Mill Valley
1st October 2003
Dear Parents,
As part of our River Studies we have arranged a visit for Year 5 pupils to Carding Mill Valley, Shropshire on Tuesday 7th October. The visit will be very interesting and involve activities such as measuring the stream bed and speed of water flow in the morning. After lunch there will be a fairly strenuous walk to find the source of the Carding Mill stream. There are some wonderful views so some pupils may wish to bring a camera.
The visit will be a full day: we will leave school at 9.00am and do not expect to be back at school until 4.30pm.
Pupils will need a packed lunch and sufficient drinks for the day (no glass bottles please). They will need Wellington boots for the river work and comfortable walking shoes / trainers or boots for the afternoon. As the weather can be very changeable they will also need a waterproof coat / cagoule. It will not be necessary to bring money.
The cost of the visit will be £7.50; this includes transport, insurance and supervision by fully trained staff from the Coven Outdoor Education Centre, who will be leading the visit. The P.T.F.A has kindly donated £1 for each pupil towards the cost of this visit which has enabled us to keep the cost at £7.50.
Please return the attached slip as soon as possible.
Yours sincerely,
L.Flint
