In Literacy years 3/4 have been studying fables. They have learnt how a fable is a short story which usually has animals as characters and teaches a "moral" or lesson. Within this unit of work the children were asked to make up their own fable. Part of the task was to make their fables modern and therefore more relevant for children their own age and below. This involved choosing easily identifiable settings or characters. They were required to start and end their fables in a similar style to the others they had studied. The end results were so successful that some of the children read theirs to a year 2 class of KS1 children. They really enjoyed the experience of having an audience to write for. The younger children were also mesmerised. Here is a selection of some of their fables; we hope you enjoy them as much

What shall we do with the G.PS? What shall we do with some grumpy parents? What shall we do with some grumpy parents? What shall we do with some grumpy parents? EARLY IN THE MORNING! Tell them that the bill is rising more Tell them that my sisters scribbled on the door WATCHING RUGBY IS A BORE EARLY IN THE MORNING! |

Eating Rules Eat your food properly Dont feed it to the cat Out of all the rules of eating Please dont do that! I know that its your favourite song But please dont sing it here And you can not leave the table Until your plate is clear. Out of all the rules of eating I left but one behind Out of all the ways of treating us Please, please treat us kind! |
