Barnaby in Year 2 Travels shares Cheslyn Hay Homes and Travels the World
Barnaby comes back to school after another weekend away Remember being a Primary School pupil in a former life and being asked on a Monday morning to write up the "weekend news" first thing? Mrs Britton changed all that and introduced the concept of Barnaby Bear (a year ago) being adopted for a weekend by a pupil and sharing life with each pupil's family during the weekend. This transformed a pupil's writing about the weekend which was now shared with a teddy bear and transformed, what we call "Chronological Writing" in school to something more creative involving the classroom Teddy bear. Mrs Britton now works in reception classes but the "Barnaby Concept" has now been adopted by Mrs Smith and Miss Newton in Year Two. Mrs Smith's Barnaby Bear has been photographed in Egypt. Whilst showing Michelle Pearson, a former pupil of the school and Cannock Chronicle Reporter, we visited Miss Newton's classroom where a pupil was reading out her diary of the weekend , having entertained Barnaby. Barnaby now is being given a new set of clothes by each house hold he visits and even provided with a suitcase by this pupil's family as the plastic bag Barnaby travels in was not sufficient!
This pupil's family donated the suitcase!
