The House System

In Key Stage 2 (the Juniors) the children are allocated to "houses": Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune.

Every week, children are awarded points for their house based on good work and special activities during the week.

Two Y6 monitors dilligently count the house points awarded in each class and a cup is awarded to the house with the biggest weekly total during Friday’s assembly.

What is nice is that each week different houses win the cup.

The houses, apart from taking part in sports events such as athletics and swimming, also raise money for charities.

Although the house system could be potentially competitive, it actually is more to do with the celebration of achievement which underpins the philosophy of our school and is a powerful motivator for children, who may do special things outside school, to come forward and share their work with the whole school community.
It works!
