Chairman’s Statement 2006 Our school continues to benefit from the commitment, determination and hard work of the very few people making up the current PTFA. I would like to thank all of them for their efforts in wanting to make the time our children spend at Cheslyn Hay Primary School a most rewarding and enjoyable experience. During the past year as Chair, my youngest child completed his time at Cheslyn Hay Primary and moved on to pastures new. Many people assumed that as I no longer had a child in the school I would resign as Chair and step down from the PTFA – how wrong they were! I have thoroughly enjoyed my involvement with the school over the years and will continue to support fund raising initiatives, be ‘the DJ’ and do anything else that I possibly can to help your children benefit and enjoy their learning experience as much as my children did. The past year has seen much investment in both time and money from the PTFA. Our fundraising has resulted in over £11,000 being spent on such things as a complete refurbishment of the library including new seating arrangements, desks, themed carpeting and of course, the fantastic artwork courtesy of the Puntel family which adorns the walls, doors and any other accessible flat surface that could be painted! An array of new audio-visual equipment has been purchased including radio mikes and mixing deck for school productions, video projectors and large portable screens, portable OHP’s and a couple of new toys for the resident DJ! Support for our meetings has, as per previous years, been poor with very few parents outside the PTFA committee in attendance. This has led to a reduction in fundraising ideas and inevitably a reduction in the number of events held. Our total income has, as a result, seen a downturn and without fresh ideas and a few more people to help at events will continue in that direction. We are desperate for successful fundraising ideas and people to become involved in the planning and running of events. If you don’t relish the idea of popping along to one of our meetings but would like to help at one of our fundraising events then please let us know. PTFA stands for Parents, Teachers and Friends Association – like me, you don’t need to have a child in the school to contribute to its wonderful reputation of providing an outstanding start to our young people’s education.
