SPRING TERM 2006

2006/07 FUND RAISING

The school council attended a recent meeting and we have agreed with them that the target for 2006/07 will be new playground equipment, plus some games and activities for indoors too.

THE FUTURE OF SCHOOL DISCOS

Thank you to all parents and pupils who took the time to give us your comments about the school discos. There are still some comments on the Pupil Forum on the school website to consider but in summary, the comments made were:

  • Parent feedback - 5 questionnaires returned. 4/5 children liked discos. All wanted party games, pool table, murder in the dark, sports games (in large hall), face painting, craft activities. Fridays seem to be the most popular night, although this limits us to using the small hall, as there are other bookings in the large hall.
  • School Council feedback:
  • Year 3/4 were generally satisfied but wanted games as well as music e.g. murder in the dark, pass the balloon.
  • Years 5 and 6 also wanted games plus disco. They said people don’t know what to do, get bored and then get silly. Suggested pirates, murder in the dark, dance competition (best boy/girl)
  • Suggestion of Friday being best day but maybe change it sometimes.
  • Limit the amount of sweets/crisps, as some children feel embarrassed if they don’t have as much money to spend as others.
  • Suggested entrance costs should include refreshments so no need to bring any money – or hand money over and get a receipt for it.
  • Have a proper refreshment break and don’t sell sweets all through event.

We are going to speak to Mrs Britton/Mrs Banks about what is best for reception and nursery.

We have therefore taken on board these comments and the next discos will be fun nights too. The entrance fee will be £2 including refreshments so there will be no need to bring money on the night.

FUND RAISING EVENTS 2006

Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 Friday 9th June 2006 (advance tickets)

HALF TERM TREASURE HUNT – 54 entries, raising £108. Thank you for encouraging your children to take part. There are 5 unnamed entries so teachers are helping us to establish who they belong to before the prize draw takes place.

ST GEORGE’S DAY EVENTS – a fancy dress day on 28th April and sponsored colouring sheet for the Easter holidays are being organised by the School Council.

SUMMER TERM EVENTS ADVANCE NOTICE

HISTORY TRAIL – PTFA members are to contact the Cheslyn Hay History Society to organise a local history trail for either Fridays 30th June or 7th July 2006.

SPORTS DAY EVENTS – 27th (29th if rain) June 2006. Strawberries and cream, tip tops and cold drinks will be on sale.
