In the style of . . .
Having read the poem 'Snake' by the Australian poet Ian Mudie, Year 6 pupils wrote a poem about a rabbit using his style and first line. You can see how successful they were.
Rabbit by James
Suddenly the grass before my feet
Shakes and becomes alive,
The rabbit
Hopped and almost leaped,
Lively, although he's terrified,
Furry soft tail follows furry soft ears, as the rabbit
Races away, disappears,
And the grass is again still.
Rabbit by Laura
Suddenly the grass before my feet
Bobbed from side to side,
The rabbit
Jumped up and hopped away
To tell his friends,
"Don't go to the burrowed grass,
I saw a monster there".
Rabbit by Jodie
Suddenly the grass before my feet,
Began to shiver and shake,
The rabbit bounces and leaps all around
He feels a tremor through the ground
Races away, disappears,
- and the grass is again still.
Rabbit by Ellie
Suddenly the grass before my feet
Turns greyish brown. It's a rabbit!
The rabbit stays still
Nose twitching,
I bend down to stroke the rabbit,
He bites me then...
Races away, disappears,
And the grass is green again.
