The Decades of Queen Elizabeth 2nd by Laura Spittle

The Decades of Queen Elizabeth 2nd

In ’52 she came to be
The Queen to reign over you and me
The people celebrated her coronation in the ‘50’s
But who could have predicted those swinging ‘60’s?

The Decades of Queen Elizabeth 2nd

From short back and sides in those few years
All the boys grew hair over their ears
Love your neighbour. We don’t need power
Everyone took to wearing a flower

The Decades of Queen Elizabeth 2nd

Now in the ‘70’s men wore the frock
But it was Ok. Only Glam rock!
Make up and glitter. A sight to behold
Where would it end? I guess they got old!

The Decades of Queen Elizabeth 2nd

With the ‘80’s came the micro chip
But those wouldn’t pass over your lip!
For with them came the birth of the super computer
A calculating machine to change the future

The Decades of Queen Elizabeth 2nd

Now in the ‘90’s you’re never alone
You can talk to your friend on a mobile phone
Now if that friend is a little perplexed
Why not send them a short text.

The Decades of Queen Elizabeth 2nd

As with our Queen as we enter the millennium
Let us hope for less rebellion
An end to war and all the terror
Let light shine through and last forever
