Cheslyn Hay Primary School

Harvest Festival: 21st September 2007

In recent years our harvest festival appeals have focused on less fortunate people in other parts of the world. This year we are looking to support disadvantaged people much nearer home by making donations to the Glebe Centre in Walsall. The Glebe centre has been operating in Walsall for thirty years as a resource and day centre. Sadly, many people become marginalised from society, and without a helping hand and support cannot find their way back.

As well as offering advice, the Glebe centre provides low price, hot meals and the only free showers in the borough, to people who would otherwise be without these ordinary necessities which we all take for granted.

To help them maintain this service we are asking the children to bring donations of tinned food into school: Eg baked beans, tinned tomatoes, soup, Irish stew, stewing steak, corned beef, fruit, custard etc

We are also asking for donations of toiletries: Eg. Shower gel, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, tooth brushes.

The Glebe centre also tells us that donations of anti bacterial spray would be very useful.

We will be celebrating our Harvest festival in school on 21st September, but will continue collecting donations until September 28th. In past years we have been overwhelmed by the generosity of Cheslyn Hay families to our harvest appeals and this year we look forward to being able to support this local charity.

Yours sincerely,
