Football Tournament ends with a disappointing interpretation of the rules

Mt Hughes coaching one of the teams during the interval

We entered two teams into the competition held at the Cannock Leisure Centre and organised by Cannock Round Table.

One of our two teams was knocked out in the early stages of the competition.

The other got through to the quarter finals playing against Gorsemoor Primary School.

With a minute to go before the end of the game with the score at 0-0 a penalty was awarded against us after the goalkeeper saved but put the ball "over head height".

The rules are quite specific saying this should be an indirect free kick.

The incorrect decision was a penalty converted against us  and big apologies from the competition organisers.

A referee's decision is final even if wrong.

We enjoyed the day  and won’t dwell on what might have been but will compete again. The following pictures are from the day

The kids were a credit to Cheslyn Hay Primary School.
Many thanks to Mr Hughes for training the teams
