A detached “Red Nose!”

This has been a special fortnight. Two Y6 children were central to raising  £320 for cancer research after one of our pupils witnessed her mother’s difficult  journey  from breast cancer diagnosis, operation, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and rehabilitation.

The £320 came from your generous response to her personal letter and her fundraising efforts within school aided and abetted by a close group of her friends.

I know her family are personally moved and touched by your kindness and concern

Any one of us could discover a lump or have a pain in an unusual place, go to the Doctor, thinking nothing of it, and then it is a diagnosis we do not want to hear or accept and suddenly your world changes.

Our school motto is "Every Child Matters, Every Day Counts".

I think for us adults "Every Day Counts" applies to us. We can’t take anything for granted. Which brings me back to Comic relief where surviving a day in Africa is a bonus.

Comic Relief raises huge funds and while a £1 spent in the UK barely buys you a decent cup of coffee, a pound spent in Africa is a week’s food for a dependant and under nourished child.

As ever Cheslyn Hay Primary School Parents keep making a difference and supporting school charity events which often are generated by the pupils.

The Red Nose Day was both fun but also raised serious issues about the global economy and the difference between what we take for granted every day and the abject poverty and under nourishment of children in other parts of the world.

The pictures now follow!

Mrs Smith always enters into the spirit of any charitable event the school supports and wins hands down every time we teachers try to dress for the occasion!
