The Indian Multicultural Week Day One morning | Day One afternoon | Day Two | Day Three | Day Four
Jagdis Kumar demonstrates the Dhol. This all followed a training day organised by Mrs Mellor (who has also masterminded the week) and led by Mukhtar which is the Punjabi spelling of his name Chris. His day job is a Prison Governor and the first ever person, of Asian origin , to be appointed as Governor to a U.K prison. He is highly intellectual (featured on national T.V.) and has an incredible understanding of other faiths while being gifted with very human personal and immense interpersonal communication skills. All my staff were held spellbound by him on the Monday training day which was run by he and his daughter. We did have a pub lunch as the school canteen was closed.
The only picture of Mike sitting next to his daughter who can't be named as she works for the legal service.
Y5 learn about the Punjab ("Five Rivers") which means that part of India is a great agricultural area. They celebrate their harvest with many ritual dances which the pupils learned about and practised.
