Ibstock brickmakers nightmare caused by BNNR (M6 toll road)
|
|
On Friday the 12th of October 01 Natalie Mason, Natalie foster and Mr. Tibbetts went to Ibstock and found out that it now costs more than £100 a day just for petrol for lorry journeys to avoid the road blocks caused by the BNRR motorway. Their lorries can no longer use Lodge Lane from the M6. They have had to reduce lorry journeys to their factory which has affected their business. Ibstock may be planning to build a private road to get the lorries and work mates to work. This would mean building a road from Eaton Concrete and Ibstock to the Saredon Road. Apparently the BNRR will take a little bit of land from Ibstock like the fencing and shrubs surrounding the building. It is all bad news for the company.
Here is Natalie Foster and Natalie mason signing in to Ibstock. The sort of questions we asked was how dos the BNRR affect you? And Mr. stead would say quite a lot because it is affecting their lorries from getting the clay for so many deliveries.
Mr Stead showing us the BNNR maps and how
The clay dug up near the M6 that they make into bricks Ibstock used to get twenty deliveries of clay before the BNRR started and now they can only do sixteen. That is four deliveries difference and that means making fewer bricks. Natalie Foster, Natalie Mason and Mr. Tibbets saw how Ibstock made the bricks they make different bricks for different prices . Special bricks normally cost more.Because of the BNRR all bricks will cost more! Reported by Natalie Foster and Natalie Mason. Here are some other pictures by the reporters:
