Coven

BY Grace & Becky & leanne

In September Y6 ,from Cheslyn Hay ,went to Coven. It is six miles from Cheslyn Hay.

We went by coach, and by mini bus. When we first got there we carried our bags to the marquee. The marquee is were you line up to go to dinner when it’s raining. If it’s not raining we lined up on the fire assembly point. That’s also where we lined up for most of our activities: which were Archery, Canoeing and Rock climbing.

Next we had to pitch up our tents. The boys and Girls were separated so they couldn’t talk to each other. But they decided to invite themselves into our compartments anyway. After we had pitched up our tents we went for our dinner.

For dinner we had sausages and chips two other schools were there as well- Ravenhill and Crown Schools. Despite the rumour that Crown were coming to attack us we made friends with most of them.

Sometimes we had spare time which was used for playing football and using the stilts. In spare time you also received a tent inspection (so we had to keep them tidy as this, along with "camp duties", counted towards team point scores for the week)

Our first tip out was to Carding Mill Valley.

The original "carding mill"

Carding Mill valley is in Shropshire. We went for a walk all day. When we got there we got off the coach and got into our teams and measured across the stream which the source of the River we are studying in Geography)

We then walked back down to have

Lunch. While we were having lunch Wayne decided to put his socks on his ears.

REASON?

Because they were survival socks and he thought he would need to survive the walk and get extra points for his team!

After lunch we went for a long walk up

"Team Duties"! Who’s hoovering who?

Our evening activities ended at 8.30 and went to the hall and had super and at 9:30 we went to bed.

We had to get up at 7:30 a.m and be ready at 8:00 then we lined up for breakfast afterwards we went out to play. When the bell went we had to do duties (again!). After that we did the day’s activities.

At 12:30 pm we had lunch, when we had finished we did afternoon activities. then at 5;00 we had tea. Tuck shop was good and we followed that with "diary writing", then duties , evening activities and bed!

At bedtime we all had to tackle our little enemies- daddy long legs!. The boys ran around shouting and being silly because they said that a other school was going to get us and trap us in our tents so we told the teacher and they went back to their tents.

Suddenly it was Thursday -our last whole day at Coven. So we got dressed ready for breakfast for the last time .After breakfast we did our duties. After that we went on a hunt for some things to draw over on paper but that was a practise for the real thing — a map and 10 things to get!

That was fun but we were cold and wet .

After that was lunch- sandwiches, cake and a cup of pop.

"Mission Impossible" followed!

We all got wet and our groups had radio receivers, maps and clues to get answers to around the whole site. Once we had found the clue we had to radio back to base for the next "co-ordinates" and find the next clue. The clues gave us codes which he had to crack at the end of the afternoon to win.

Then we had tea and dried off.

Friday was a morning of final duties and taking down the tents.

It was a magic week!
