Cheslyn Hay Primary School

Foundation stage production "Sounds of Christmas"

One member of the audience, who serves a local church, said he had attended a Christmas production in every local school and this was the best that he had seen.

It was an amazing event with 4 and 5 year olds singing their hearts out and memorising songs (and actions) that held an audience, spellbound for half an hour. No mean feat and thanks are due to the Foundation Years’ team (Mrs Ashley, Mrs Banks, Mr Thornborrow and support staff) for coaching and supporting their pupils so effectively.

In 25 years of teaching, I have never seen such a high standard achieved by children so young.

Sadly, it was Mrs Ashley’s final Christmas at our school as she moves to Head a large Nursery Unit at a Oakhill Primary School in Tamworth.

She has done an amazing job developing our Foundation Stage Unit which OFSTED recognised ,in our recent school inspection, as being a "strength of the school".

It was also an opportunity to introduce Foundation parents to Mrs Julie Barratt who will take over Mrs Ashley’s class.

The theme was Christmas with pupils holding up a letter card and a narrator introducing each song.

The following pictures tell the story. What it doesn’t tell is the quality of the singing!
