A Happy Reception Pupil!

Our school was one of the first in the Country to embrace and trial the new "Early Learning Goals" Curriculum which is now in place across all schools in England.

As a consequence the Foundation Years have had many lessons observed by the Local Authority Inspectorate and seen by Staffordshire LEA as a model of "best practice" since Mrs Britton, Miss Ryder and Mrs Banks and their classroom assistants, teamed up and transformed teaching and learning in that part of the school

Word has got around within the Cheslyn Hay community and the Early Years Unit, bucking Staffordshire and National trends, is over subscribed.

Mrs Britton, Assistant Headteacher and "line manager" for the whole of Key Stage One and Foundation Years, has been instrumental in pioneering the good work done, together with the team she works with there.

As a proud Headteacher, I can take the school camera into that unit and find something different and special every day.

The following photographs were taken by the school's "Knock out News" team in Y6 who contribute to the school website on a daily basis, and not taken by their Headteacher.

The art work is superb and represents a small percentage of the other work done within the Unit which hopes to achieve designated Nursery Status for children aged three from September 2005
