Coven 2004 Archery on Day 4 - afternoon, Thursday, September 30, 2004
The afternoon got off to a wet start with a torrential shower- much enjoyed by the children once the sun came out!
Mr Tibbetts enjoying the sunshine too!
Mission impossible with super spies D,E and F
Using a map, a knowledge of grid squares and two way walkie-talkies, the teams were guided around the site by "Mission Control", to find the answers to clues.
First contact with mission control
Another group near the canoe sheds in the woods
Mission Control directing the groups around the campus
A rather worrying clue. What could be in the box?
This mouse!!!
Afterwards all the groups used put their answers through this code breaker to be given an set of jumbled up letters. The winning team was the first to make sense of the letters.
Meanwhile groups G ,H, and I were "Messing about on the River"- well canal!
Being shown how to use a paddle.
Off they go!
Closely followed by "Cox" Ward's boat!
If you go down to the woods today you'll see groups D,E and F on the Balance Course
The groups traversed the course in pairs. On acted as a "minder".
If feet touched the ground three times...
... the minder takes over.
That looks wobbly!
The "A" frame.
The tarzan swing
One life almost lost
A perfect end to the afternoon. During the evening, it will be the usual run of activities. Tomorrow the groups will learn which team is the overall winner of the week. They will also vote for the person they feel has been the most valued "team member" in their group in a secret ballot. The coaches will return to school at 2.30 p.m. tomorrow afternoon. A final report for Friday morning will be posted to the website tomorrow evening. |
