Coven - A Birthday To Remember

An eleventh birthday is always a landmark, but for Bethany it was certainly ‘something completely different’. A full day of activities was completed by sitting round an open fire in the teepee  singing songs and playing games.

We had just had our supper of drinking chocolate and birthday cake when we heard the sound of the fire alarm from the main building. Wondering whether it was a real fire or a false alarm we gathered on the fire assembly point and everyone waited  until the ‘all clear’ was given – it was a false alarm: steam from a shower room in the new dormitories had triggered it.

We were very proud of the quiet and sensible way the children reacted to the possible emergency.
