Cheslyn Hay friendly against St Joseph’s

Cheslyn Hay Y6 V’s St Joseph’s RC Primary School,
Rugeley, Friday 7th September 2007

On Friday Cheslyn Hay hosted St Joseph’s for the first friendly fixture of the season and ended up losing a keenly contested double header – kindly refereed by Mr Mobberley.

Losing 4-0 at half time and then going 6-0 down early in the second half of game one failed to dampen the boys’ spirits as they managed to claw two back through the impish Brennan Tart taking his two goals with composure. The first a well placed shot after good work by Bradley Jeynes, the second following up his own shot after the keeper had made a good save.

Final score 6-2 St Joseph’s.

A quick turn around and the second game saw Cheslyn Hay out to revenge the first game defeat and they worked hard as a team going in at the break with the scores level, the Cheslyn Hay lads faded in the second half and with it any chance of victory. Finally losing the second game 4-1.

Despite the defeats, I feel this was a more than useful work out for the boys against a more than capable St Joseph’s side. There is certainly plenty to look forward to this season if the lads listen to advice and continue to have the right attitude.

Now hopefully the boys will attend the Wolves coaching sessions on Friday and continue improving like Tyrone Stewart who was my man of the match for his hard-but-fair tackling and composure on the ball.

Thank you to the boys who gave me a most enjoyable Friday evening – and to the parents who helped to sort out the goals after the game, it was one of those where I could have been there all night without your help. Thank you

Well done all!
