South Staffordshire Council
– Tag Rugby Festival
(Hosted by Willenhall Rugby Club
– Tuesday 22nd May 2007)
Huge thanks to Mark Jenkinson from South Staffordshire County Council and all of those that helped him from SSC and Willenhall Rugby Club. A most enjoyable time was had by all that attended from Cheslyn Hay Primary School. Without your commitment and dedication to organise events such as this the opportunity for children to showcase their talents would be significantly reduced.

Y5/6 Cheslyn Hay 'A'
Back row (left to right): H. Greensil; E. Leason;
B. Tranter; M. Walkerdine; S. Haywood; E. Garner
Front row (left to right): S. Laxton;
D. Resnick; N. Taylor; H. Marrocco
Our ‘A’ team were facing teams from:
Codsall Middle ‘B’
Havergal ‘A’
St John’s, Essington
Bilbrook Middle
The group threw up some very interesting exchanges with some very close, tight end to end rugby with tries galore being scored!

Cheslyn Hay Y3/4
Back row: G. Hatfield; J. Davies;
B. Jones; J. Powell; J. Knapton
Front row: L. Ansell; T. Chambers;
N. Brown; G. Speake; H. Dean
Year 3/4 were due to play all their games on Pitch 2 against:
St Nicholas,
St John’s Essington,
Princefield,

Unfortunately due to circumstances unbeknown to us two of the schools didn’t arrive and our group was shrunk to just the three teams, so our match length was increased from 4 minutes each way to 7 minutes each way.

Thank you to Mrs Kemp for accompanying us to Willenhall for your motivation and focus. Two pairs of eyes are certainly better than one.
Also special thanks to the parents who came along and watched - not only their own children but any fixtures that were involving children from our school. Thank you!
Children… you were a credit to the school today, you listened, you were enthusiastic, skilful and determined, and once again – a never give up attitude ensured you came out of the tournament very creditably.
I am already looking forward to next years tournament

The results are given out at the end
of the group stage of the festival.
