VISUAL LITERACY

As part of their SATs revision, Year 6 have been using photos as a stimulus for writing.  Here are their favourite sentences.

Visual literacy

He saw the flicker once more; he thought is this my imagination? Anxiously, he turned to find…nothing but a rat scurrying across the rubbled ground.    Ellie Chilton

Bang!  The sound shudders through my eyes, the sound of a gunshot.  The screams stop, I heard heavy footsteps pounding towards me; my only option is to run.  Heart pounding…head thumping, I turn, smack! Jake heard the screaming.  He saw nothing but his own two feet.  Then he stopped and stared into the distance.  Silence came to his ears.  Someone or something started to whistle.  Cautiously, he crept.  Suddenly, someone ran past Jake.  He was terrified.  The screaming started again…  Pantelakis Christou

The chill made him shudder as he walked further through the tunnel.  He heard groaning and screaming.  A little girl, about sic years old, appeared out of nowhere.  She stared at Jake, her big, brown eyes gleaming in the tiny bit of light that shone through the hole in the tunnel.   Carmen Crocker
