Y5 can tell you everything now about the water cycle and how rivers ate dammed to create a "storage area" for water that will eventually flow through our taps at home after purification and treatment.

The reservoir offers leisure facilities to non-polluting yachters  and fishermen, as well as being host to many species of birds including the heron.

Practical lessons indoors using water

The River Blythe is picturesque. My favourite view of it is on the bridge between Hamstall Ridware and Yoxall. Hard to imagine this hard working river is the making of the reservoir. The treatment works that put reservoir water into household taps is located between Handsacre and the A515  junction. of the Lichfield to Ashbourne  Road.
