Cheslyn Hay Primary School

Year 5 / 6 Mini Olympics at Aldersley Stadium

Thursday 21st July 2007

Dodging the showers, the Year 5 / 6 Mini Olympic squads took part in Cricket, Rounders and Athletic activities against the other schools in the Cheslyn Hay High School cluster and worked really hard as a team throughout their day

We had the largest squad of the day, providing opportunities for many of our children to sample competing against other schools. Here is our squad looking extremely tired after a day of exhausting activity.

Hannah, silver medallist in the javelin…
star pupil under the care of Mrs Kemp

Gold medal winner Tobi, takes first place in the Boys 800 metres.

Tom wins silver in the boys standing long jump
after some top tips from Mr Spragg.

Joshua with a bronze for third place in the 80 metre sprint

Abby being presented with her medal for the Mixed 4x100 metre Relay
Also around her neck – her Race for Life Medal she gained on Wednesday night – not just sporting in school!

Joshua with a bronze for third place in the 80 metre sprint

Melissa with her long jump and her Mixed 4x100metre Relay

Daniel, the final member of the 4 x 100metre
Mixed Relay team being presented with his medal.

Thanks go to Chris Wood, Sports College Partnership Manager and Sue Field – School Sports Co-ordinator for organising the event which I think the children thoroughly enjoyed.

Thank you also to the Young Leaders, ably marshalled by Steve Rushton for giving their time to umpire and officiate. Without the leaders this type of event would not have been possible.

Thanks also to Mrs Kemp and Mr Spragg for their help and support today, giving the children that little bit more motivation!

Rob Hughes
School Sport and PE Coordinator.
