Wyrley Juniors F.C. Schools Tournament 2007 Saturday 9th June. 10.00 – 1.30
Cheslyn Hay took two teams to compete in a five aside tournament against other local schools and one of, if not the areas best girls club side – Wyrley Juniors on Saturday and displayed great pride and determination in a sport many of the girls hadn’t taken part in competitively and they certainly didn’t let themselves down, despite some heavy defeats they worked together, laughed, smiled and encouraged one another and gave the parents on the touch line plenty to smile about. Thank you to the organisers at Wyrley Juniors for providing our girls with this opportunity and I hope there will be many more like this in years to come!

Back row (left to right): Ellie; Ayse; Chelsea and Becky Fixtures and Results
The tournament is over and all the teams are seated and waiting for the presentation to begin. ‘Cheslyn Hay Reds’ go up to collect
‘Cheslyn Hay Whites’ go up to receive their awards.
The certificate and medal that all Highlights of the day included the weather, typically British – a bit of rain wouldn’t have hurt with the girls spending so much time on the pitch but we can’t complain, conditions could have been a lot worse! Ayse has to have won the goal of the tournament with her lob over the goalkeeper to score against eventual winners Heath Hayes, as well as first goals for first timers Chelsea and Rebecca. Six goals in a tournament is certainly no mean feat! Well done Georgia! Also most notable was the attitude of the girls who once on the field battled hard, tackled, got involved and just never gave up. That commitment needs applauding by everyone. The girls did themselves proud! The next step now is to get the coaches into school working specifically with the girls and working to merge them into a team that can be competitive in future tournaments as they will hopefully become more equipped to play the game.
Finally a quick mention of thanks to both Miss Iannarilli and Miss Conley for coming along, giving up some of their Saturday to encourage, support and cheer the girls on. I know the girls appreciated you being there. Thank you
